St. Nicholas’ Religious Education program offers New Evangelization classes and activities for children in grades Kindergarten through 12th Grade along with preparation for the sacraments.

The Church teaches that the primary teachers of children are the child’s parents. The Parish is given the task of assisting parents in teaching the faith to their children. The mission of the New Evangelization Team, including the volunteer catechists, is to assist the parents in teaching about our Catholic faith and passing this faith on to the children who attend the programs and activities offered. As part of the parish NE program, your child will experience ways to know, love, and serve our Lord and the Church within the 30 hours they attend.

Elementary – Grades K-5
The After-School Program for our elementary children takes place on Wednesday afternoons from 3:30-5:00pm. Parents are asked to join your child in church at 4:45pm for Eucharistic Adoration. The children in the Freedom Public School District, whose parents request it, are bused to St. Nicholas. Children who attend other school districts are transported to St. Nicholas by their parents.

Our religious education program for grade one students is a time for young children to learn more about Jesus and the Catholic Faith and begin preparing for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion, which is typically received in 2nd grade.
